A portable workplace IRA

Free to save. Free to leave.

The account belongs to the employee, not the employer. Start through payroll, keep control, and take the IRA with you when work changes.

Built for everyone

Employers administer eligibility and payroll. Employees own and manage their individual accounts. Neither role can act outside what it is authorised to do.

One simple experience

The employer invites

Eligible employees receive an invitation. Nothing is opened on anyone’s behalf.

The employee opens the account

Identity is verified once with an Investor Passport. The account is the employee’s own IRA.

Payroll contributes

Each contribution moves through submitted, accepted, posted, settled and reconciled — and you can see which state it is in.

It stays yours

Change jobs and the account travels. Nothing to roll over, nothing to chase.

What it costs

Nothing to open. Nothing to maintain. Nothing to close. Cash in the money market option carries no MyFreeIRA fee, and the curated ETF menu is commission-free with third-party charges passed through at cost.

Where the account lives

MyFreeIRA is the experience. The account itself is held by Institutional Trust Company through Investor Services, so the record of what you own sits with a custodian rather than with an app.
