MyFreeIRA is in development and is not accepting accounts or contributions. Custody will be provided by Institutional Trust Company through Investor Services. Institutional Trust Company is seeking a South Dakota non-depository trust charter and is not chartered. Nothing on this site is an offer to open an account or a recommendation to invest.

For employees

It is your account, from the first contribution.

Your employer sends the money. Everything after that — the investments, the beneficiaries, the decision to keep going — is yours.

What you control

  • Whether to open an account at all
  • Traditional or Roth
  • Your contribution rate, changed whenever you like
  • Which investments you hold, from the curated menu
  • Who inherits the account
  • Whether to keep contributing after you leave

What it costs you

Nothing to open, nothing to maintain, nothing to close. Cash in the money market option carries no MyFreeIRA fee. The curated ETF menu is commission-free, with mandatory regulatory charges passed through at cost.

Changing jobs

Nothing happens to the account. Payroll contributions stop when the paycheque does, and the account carries on. If your next employer participates, contributions resume; if not, you can contribute directly.
